Nokomis was once nicknamed “Junction City” because it was, and remains to be, the junction of the CN and CP railway lines. The passenger train no longer stops here, but freight, cargo and grain cars move through every hour of the day. There is a romantic sadness and joy hearing that train roll through town. The haunting call of the horn brings a comfort somehow and the rhythm as the train crosses the junction is both infectious and inspiring. Junction City is a juncture of people, talent, music, songs, feelings and ideas. I hope you enjoy the ride!
